Gloomy Monday Game Challenge Date 10.18.10
So it’s a gloomy rainy Monday and we ask ourselves, “what should we do”? Haley and I decided to take a drive to DL and have a “Monday Challenge Date”. What is the Monday challenge you may ask? Well, the two rides at the parks that have a scoring system are Buzz Lightyear and Toy Story Mania. This is what our date was all about. WINNER TAKES ALL!!!
First up was Toy Story Mania:

We all know that this ride is amazing. It has recently been re-opened and now, has Toy Story 3 characters peppered into some of the games. There is a whole new game that is a dino wonderland with a huge volcano in the middle. It’s too new and we haven’t figured out the secrets to the level, but needless to say, its really cool! You definitely need to work as a team to get the secret points throughout the game but still have the skills to pull ahead of you competitor.
FINAL SCORE
ERIC: 242,800 HALEY: 167,500

As you can see, I SMOKED Haley and was up One to ZERO! On to our next challenge: Buzz Lightyear.

I was feeling pretty confident coming into this one. I usually beat Haley at this game, as I have the faster trigger finger. This is a way longer ride than Toy Story, so endurance is key. Halfway through the ride we stopped for technical reasons which is where I believe Haley pulled away. I thought I was doing pretty well, but as we pulled into the finish, I looked down and would say that I was DESTROYED.
FINAL SCORE
ERIC: 172,000 HALEY: 271,300

That brings the score to: Haley-1, Eric-1. We need to have a tie breaker soon. Keep posted.

elecTRONica Date 10.10.10
You can plan to visit California Adventure Friday through Sunday until early Spring to see what the new TRON movie is all about.
We got to the parks around 7:30pm and walked straight through California Adventures to elecTRONica. The Hollywood backlot was lit up with video projections and laser beams, making it seem like you’re in the movie.
It’s sort of like a Rave at Disneyland…..lots of different people, all there for a different reason. There were “Go-go dancers” (TRON style) in three different spots with a DJ centered spinning house music. So, for all those dancers out there, bring your glow sticks and GO CRAZY!

We were definitely interested in seeing the “exclusive” (more than 2 minute) trailer of the movie that all this hype was centered around. Even standing in line, you’re able to dance while waiting for those 3D glasses and the time to pile into the “Muppet 3D show” theater.

Check out all the fun! You can even visit Flynn’s arcade where they have many different “old-school” video games for your enjoyment.
It was pretty crowded even for a Sunday night, but well worth the experience and a great “date night” out together at our favorite spot.

QOTD
As the inaugural post I thought it would be fitting to post a great quote from Walt Disney.
“I only hope that we don’t lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse.”
